Expansion Unit IBM (5803)

The 24-inch 12X PCI Express (PCIe) I/O drawer is the most current technology used to expand the I/O capabilities of the 595 and 795 Power Systems servers

The 24-inch 12X PCIe I/O drawer characteristics include:

• -  20 PCIe hot-plug adapter slots with blind-swap cassettes
• -  26 SAS Small Form Factor (SFF) hot-swap disk bays 
• -  24 inches wide and 4 EIA units tall
• -  Redundant power supplies, standard
• -  Up to 32 feature 5803 drawers or 31 feature 5803 drawers are supported per server
• -  Connected to host server using a 12X loop
• -  Maximum of one drawer per 12X loop

Compatiblity: The 24-inch 12X PCIe I/O drawers are supported on POWER6 model 595 and POWER7 model 795 servers.
