Feature 5887 is a SAS disk drive enclosure for high-density storage, it can hold up to 24 hot-swap SFF SAS 2.5 inch disk drives. The EXP24S supports AIX, IBM i, Linux and VIOS operating systems.
Proper cabling is required to attach the EXP24S to SAS controllers (SAS PCI-X or PCIe adapters).
The EXP24S is configured on Power E870/E880 servers using feature code #5887. The EXP24S is two rack units (2U) in size and has two (redundant) power supplies. The 24 disk bays utilize hot-plug, Small Form Factor-2 (SFF-2).
